Founding Declaration
We, the Young Taiwan Initiative of the DTG e.V., today (December 10, 2019), on the international day of human rights, declare our foundation as a young section within the German-Taiwanese Association e.V.
We are young people feeling attached to Taiwan. Whether with biographical, cultural, political or other reasons – we are all united and standing up for Taiwan. We advocate a free and democratic constitutional state as well as the improvement of German-Taiwanese relations at all levels.
As the Young Taiwan Initiative of the DTG e.V., we stand non-partisanly for the deepening and promotion of political, social, cultural, scientific and economic relations with Taiwan and we stand resolutely against all those who question Taiwan’s freedom, right to self-determination and security. We contradict Taiwan’s isolation in the international system.
Whether in the Civicus Global Report, in the Freedom in the World Index by Freedom House, in the Bertelsmann Transformation Index, in Reporters Without Borders or Transparency International: Taiwan has become a beacon for democracy and human rights in Asia – we demand recognition for this.
On December 10th, we will not only remember the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1948, but also stand by Taiwan and those who fight for democracy and human rights.
