The German-Taiwanese Association (DTG) strongly condemns the current large-scale military exercises conducted by the People’s Republic of China around Taiwan. The simulation of a military encirclement and blockade of Taiwan constitutes a deliberate provocation and endangers peace and stability throughout the entire region.
China is once again attempting to use military pressure as a political instrument to intimidate a democratic society and unilaterally alter the status quo. Such actions violate international law and undermine the rules-based international order.
The international community must remain vigilant, demonstrate solidarity with Taiwan, and work together to promote peace, stability, and respect for democratic self-determination in the Indo-Pacific.
Once again, it is clear that the international community must be prepared for further escalations. It must be capable of responding in a coordinated and credible manner — with measured but clear political, diplomatic, and, if necessary, economic countermeasures should the situation continue to deteriorate.
